Questions

Code 128 Reader & Scanner, answered.

If you manage servers by hand, see the engineering services behind this tools series.

Code 128 or GS1-128 — which did I scan?

Plain Code 128 carries printable ASCII up to 80 characters here. GS1-128 adds FNC1-first (AI) syntax such as (01)…(21)…; the result names the content type and any verified profile.

What is the USPS IMpb profile?

IMpb package data travels as a GS1-128 payload with AI 420 routing plus a tracking construct. The reader classifies it as a usps-impb profile without pretending it is a different optical symbology.

Why did my Code 128 fail to read?

Narrow bars need pixels: photograph straight-on with the bars sharp, keep the quiet zones clear, and avoid glare on glossy labels.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Pixels and decoded payloads stay in memory on this device. The page makes no network requests with your data and clears the result after ten idle minutes.
