ZXing-first scanning with on-device fallbacks for selected rare and postal formats, plus honest capability details. Nothing leaves your browser.

How it works
The fast path stays light; rare-format decoding is an explicit fallback, not a first-paint tax.
Drop a photo, paste a screenshot or start the camera. The image is resized only in memory and never uploaded.
The built-in ZXing reader handles mainstream 1D and 2D symbols first; an on-device fallback is loaded only when the first pass needs it.
Get the decoded payload, optical format and any verified logistics profile, with engine details kept in the advanced panel.
Questions
If you manage servers by hand, see the engineering services behind this tools series.
No. Pixels and decoded payloads stay in memory on this device. The page does not store them and clears the result after ten idle minutes.
ZXing is the stable primary reader for mainstream QR, retail, industrial and 2D symbols. The secondary AnyD reader is lazy-loaded only after a miss or an explicit exotic-format request.
A profile is an application standard carried by an optical barcode. For example, a checked ITF payload can be classified as Deutsche Post Identcode, while a GS1-128 payload can be recognized as USPS IMpb without pretending it is a different optical symbology.
Experimental formats have pixel-level reader paths but remain separate from production claims. Structural-only formats stay in the engineering registry and are not offered as image/camera readers until a raster detector has acceptance evidence.
Yes, when the browser grants camera permission on HTTPS or localhost. Stop the camera before switching back to image input; every track is released on stop, clear and unmount.
Auto checks every raster-supported format. Picking one speeds up reading and the result verdict confirms the symbol is that format. Structural-only formats are not listed as reader choices until pixel detection exists. Each link below opens the reader with that format pre-selected; Auto clears back to the default.
