Questions

UPC-A Reader & Scanner, answered.

If you manage servers by hand, see the engineering services behind this tools series.

UPC-A or UPC-E — which did I scan?

UPC-A is the full 12-digit shelf code; UPC-E is its zero-compressed form for tiny packs and reads back zero-expanded. The result names the exact format.

How is the check digit handled?

Eleven-digit input is completed with the computed check digit; twelve-digit input is verified and rejected with the expected digit named when it mismatches.

Why did my UPC-A fail to read?

Shrink-wrap glare and curved cans distort bars — flatten where possible, kill reflections, and keep both quiet zones in frame.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Pixels and decoded payloads stay in memory on this device. The page makes no network requests with your data and clears the result after ten idle minutes.
